Earl Grey Poached Pears with Honey and Cardamom

This elegant earl grey poached pears dessert combines the delicate flavours of Earl Grey tea, the warmth of cardamom, and the sweetness of honey for a delightful winter treat! Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients for Earl Grey Poached Pears:

  • 4 ripe but firm pears, peeled and halved
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons of Earl Grey tea
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom pods (crushed)
  • 1 vanilla bean (split lengthwise)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: Chopped nuts or a dollop of Greek yogurt for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, bring the water to a gentle simmer. Add the Earl Grey tea, honey, crushed cardamom pods, split vanilla bean, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5-7 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  3. Carefully place the pear halves into the simmering liquid, ensuring they are fully submerged. Poach the pears for about 15-20 minutes or until they are tender but not mushy.
  4. Once the pears are poached, remove them from the liquid and set aside.
  5. Continue simmering the poaching liquid until it thickens slightly into a syrup-like consistency.
  6. Drizzle the reduced syrup over the poached pears.
  7. Optionally, garnish with chopped nuts or serve with a dollop of Greek yogurt.

Enjoy!
